Music, art intertwine at Wulapalooza festival

They slathered their bodies in paint, danced in the rain and swayed to the croonings of Northwest musicians.

These were some of the sights at the 16th annual Wulapalooza festival April 19 at Willamette University. Five professional bands — including Radiation City, Moon Hooch and Katey Red — performed everything from rock to hip hop. Other highlights included a prize wheel, interactive artwork and photo booths.

A group of Willamette students created Wulapalooza in 1998. The small festival has since transformed into a community-wide celebration.
