Atkinson rebuilds admissions and recruitment teams

by Andrew Hickey,

With our eye on better serving prospective students as they consider their MBA options, Atkinson has rebuilt our recruitment and admissions teams with some new folks, along with some familiar faces.

The reboot allows AGSM to create a more streamlined recruitment and admissions team and better behind-the-scenes processes that ultimately create smoother and more impactful experiences for prospective students looking to earn their MBA.

alex-subertLeading the charge is Alex Subert, senior associate dean. In addition to overseeing our entire recruiting and admissions operation, Alex serves as the director of admission for the MBA for Professionals program in Salem and at our Portland Center. Alex specializes in recruitment methodology and strategy, and enrollment management through statistical modeling. He serves on a number of university committees and is currently earning his JD at Willamette University College of Law.

David Carroll continues to lead the MBA for Professionals program as director of recruitment. David has guided the program through continued growth in Salem and Portland, all the while remaining an active member and leader with several nonprofit organizations in Portland. He works primarily from our Portland Center located in the Pearl District.

Joining David on the MBA for Professionals team is Will Fruhwirth, who started as assistant director of recruitment in February 2018. If Will is a familiar face to the Willamette community, he was previously on the admissions team at the College of Law where he specialized in applicant interviews and working with students from diverse backgrounds.

stephanie-blairStephanie Blair joined Atkinson in February as assistant director of recruitment in a new position designed to support both MBA programs — MBA for Professionals and the full-time Early Career MBA. Stephanie comes to us from Portland State University, where she was an academic and career advisor and earned her MBA in 2015.

david-cortezOur full-time Early Career MBA program is newly stocked with Director of Recruitment Juliet Valdez and Assistant Director of Recruitment David Cortez. Juliet originally joined Atkinson in 2016 working on our MBA for Professionals program. In late 2017, after longtime director Aimee Akimoff left AGSM for a position with Tesla, Juliet stepped into the director role for the full-time MBA. Juliet came to Atkinson after working in recruitment and admissions at UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business. She is currently earning her MBA at Atkinson in the MBA for Professionals program. David Cortez joined us in February 2018 after working at Oregon Health & Science University School of Nursing as diversity coordinator and in admissions and recruitment.

sarah-nealWorking behind the scenes to make sure our processes and workflow are continuously improving is Sarah Neal, recruitment and admission operations manager. With previous experience in admissions, Sarah joined Atkinson in 2016 and has since wrangled our systems and tools into a much more efficient machine.
