Willamette supports student employment, recognizing the benefits to both the students and the university. Students gain valuable work experience through on-campus employment and Willamette departments benefit from the skills and perspectives of the student employees. We consider our student employees to be valuable members of our University workforce.

Where are student jobs posted?

Employment opportunities will be posted on the Career Services Handshake website. You may refer to that website or inquire about available positions in the individual department or area in which you are interested.

For information on the job search process and how that works with Federal Work-Study, refer to the Work-Study FAQ on the Career Services website.

I have been offered a job on campus. What do I do next?

Once you have officially been hired, you will receive an email with login credentials from Workday, our Human Resource Information System. This email will go to your personal email address, not your WU email address. You can also log in to Workday through your Student Portal by clicking on the Workday tab. You will be automatically assigned your new hire documentation in your Workday Inbox. Check out the Training Resources for Workday website for support.

Human Resources will contact you to ensure timely completion of the I-9 process. You will complete the first part of this process, filling out the I-9 form, in the Workday system. Once section one is complete, please schedule a time to visit the Human Resources office to complete section two of your I-9. Section two requires you to bring in supporting documents to verify your eligibility to work in the US. Please see the list of approved documents you can use to complete section two of the I-9 process.

If you are not able to present any of the eligible documents you are not permitted to work. If your documents are at home, you can have your parents or guardian mail your documents to campus using a secure service with tracking capabilities.

If you have any questions please email us at student-employment@willamette.edu.
