Joining Alpha Chi at Willamette

Recruitment allows non-affiliated women to meet sorority members, learn about sorority values, tour chapters, hear about the different philanthropies of each sorority and ask questions about anything sorority-related. The recruitment process allows non-affiliated women and sorority members a chance to learn more about each other. Participating in recruitment at Willamette, whether its informal or formal, is a wonderful way to meet new people. Even if you decide not to join a sorority, you will gain fabulous memories and many new friends.

Here at WU, we have year-around recruitment. Our Formal Recruitment period is deferred, which means that first-year women cannot go through the recruitment process until Spring semester. This allows for first-year women to get settled into their college lives before recruitment starts. Formal Recruitment is a four-day event beginning this year on January 23rd, 2013 with Values Night and ending on January 26th with Bid Day. There will also be an Orientation Program scheduled for January 20th. Sorority registration is currently open! Check out the PHC recruitment Facebook event for more information.

The Informal Recruitment process, also known as Continuous Open Bidding, allows for sororities to increase their membership, outside of Formal Recruitment. It's very casual, unstructured and informal. Unaffiliated second-year, third-year and fourth-year women (transfers too!) are invited over to each sorority house for COB events, which are laid-back events held throughout the Fall semester.
