The first annual Acapella night was held on October 12, 2007 in Smith Auditorium. With hundreds of students and members of the community present, Alpha Chi was able to raise over $4,500 to benefit the Mid-Valley Women's Crisis Service. Four acapella groups performed including Willamette's "Headband," University of Oregon's "On the Rocks" and "Divisi" as well as Whitman College's "Testostertones." Alpha Chi would like to thank the bands for performing, WEB for assisting with funding and the staff members from the Crisis Service for attending the concert.
In spring of 2008, the Acapella Night concert won the award of "Philanthropy of the Year" an award presented at the Greek Awards Ceremony put on by Order of Omega!!!
In the past,
Alpha Chi Omega has held an annual basketball tournament to raise money
and awareness for the victims of domestic violence. The tournament
was a campus-wide event, and all proceeds generated benefited the Mid-Valley
Crisis Service. Local businesses generously donated awards, and a
raffle was held at the event. Over the past few years, Alpha Chi
Omega has successfully raised and donated several thousand dollars, however, this event will be replaced by the benefit concert from this point forward.
