Welcome
Class Councils are a wonderful way to get involved as they are open to any student at Willamette University. There is no application or election process. All you need to do to get involved is show up to the meeting for the year with which you identify (the year you plan to graduate).
The Class Councils are a unique facet at Willamette University. They are guaranteed a budget of $7.00 per semester per student. The councils use this money to create events that build class unity and promote ties to Willamette University.
Class Councils traditionally plan at least one event per semester for their class. The events vary greatly depending on how active the class. Past events have included: study breaks during finals with henna and bouncey obstacle courses, mid-semester energizers, bistro giftcards, writing postcards to abroad students, etc.
Some traditional events include a class social during the second semester of their sophomore year as at that point all students are considered Willamette Alumni. During the final year at Willamette, the Class Council usually hold a social in the fall semester and a soiree the second semester of the year. The Class Council is also responsible in the final year at Willamette for purchasing the class gift to be given to the University upon graduation.
