Jane Program
On March 5 th, 2002 at 7:00 PM in Cone Chapel Students for Choice
showed two films about abortion to an audience of 150. The first film, Misguidance,
documents the deceptive practices of
Crisis Pregnancy Centers.
The second film was a documentary about the underground, illegal abortion network Jane.
Jane: An Abortion Service-Jane was an underground abortion network in Chicago
that provided 10,000 women with safe but illegal abortions between 1969 and 1973.
The film interviews the members who ran the underground network and some of the
patients who received their abortions through the Jane service. Jane is a
fascinating story of how a group of women managed to safely and secretly provide
women with the right to choose when abortion was illegal.
