Letter Writing Campaigns
We write letters to politicians to thank them for their efforts in protecting or furthering
reproductive rights and to urge them to oppose or support certain bills
that are relevant to reproductive rights and freedoms.
March 25th 2002
Students for Choice wrote to all of Oregon's Congressional House members and both Senators
to urge them to oppose the
Teen Endangerment Act.

February 15th 2002
Students for Choice sent our second annual letter to President Bush telling him that a donation was being made
on his behalf to a clinic that performs abortions. Students for Choice collected donations
and signatures from its members and other students and the money will go to the clinic where
the members of Students for Choice volunteer as escorts.

April 23th 2001
Students for Choice wrote to Oregon State Representative Jackie Winters and State Senate
President Gene Derfler urging them to oppose the HB 3830 which would create a 24 hour delay and
subject women to biased anti-choice counseling.

Students for Choice wrote to Oregon Representative Darlene Hooley and the Oregon Senators
Ron Wyden and Gordon Smith urging them to support the Global Democracy Promotion Act.

February 13th 2001
Students for Choice sent a letter to President Bush for Presidents' Day telling him that a
donation was being made on his behalf to a clinic that performs abortions. Students for Choice
collected donations and signatures from its members and other students and the money will go to
the clinic where the members of Students for Choice volunteer as escorts. Thousands of Americans
sent letters to Bush telling him that they were making donations on his behalf to Planned
Parenthood and other organizations.

February 22th 2000
Students for Choice wrote to all of the Oregon Representatives and Senators to urge them to vote
no on Senate Bill 661/H.R. 1218. This bill would make it illegal for anyone other than a parent to transport
a minor across state lines to undergo an abortion.
