Welcome to new parents
From Jean & John Brennan, ‘P11 and co-chairs of Parent Advisory CouncilOn behalf of the Parents Advisory Council, welcome to Willamette University! Our son, Patrick, has made the most of his Willamette experience and is looking forward to starting his junior year. We hope your son or daughter finds Willamette to be a great fit, too.
October 8-11 is Family Weekend and an important date to put on your calendar. Family Weekend is designed to give parents an idea of what campus life is like today. It’s also a great time to check in with your son or daughter to find out how the adjustment to college is going. If you come, stop by the continental breakfast hosted by the Parents Advisory Council on Saturday morning. We’ll be on the second floor of the Putnam University Center, October 11, 8:00 a.m - 9:00 a.m.
We have enjoyed meeting many Willamette students and their parents. This is one reason we chair the Parents Advisory Council. The Council helps organize events, supports the Parents Fund and welcomes parents to campus. You can expect a member of our Welcome Team to call you this fall and say “welcome to Willamette”!
Connecting Willamette parents is a primary goal of the Parents Advisory Council and there are many ways to stay connected. You can receive the WU News, a monthly electronic newsletter with a section just for parents, if the University has your current email address. If you want to interact with other parents, check out the Parents Listserv and the Parent Social Networking site. Both sites are great ways to communicate with other Willamette parents.
I hope your son or daughter’s experience at Willamette is exceptional. Please feel free to contact us through the Parent Relations Office by email, email@example.com, or phone, 503-370-6636. We look forward to seeing you on Family Weekend, Oct. 8-11.
