Professor Addresses Sustainability and Study Abroad
A recent Inside Higher Ed article highlighted discussions on college campuses about how the environmental impact of study abroad programs, particularly relating to carbon emissions generated by travel, fit into deliberations on sustainability.
Nathan Sivers Boyce, associate professor of economics and chair of Willamette’s Sustainability Council, noted that when universities examine initiatives to serve their educational mission, those discussions should include ecological footprint costs in addition to financial costs.
