Professor Earns Oregon Artist Fellowship
Art Professor Heidi Preuss Grew was one of just 13 Oregon artists to receive a 2010 Oregon Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellowship.
This is her second time to win the $3,000 award, making her one of a limited number of artists to be recognized with the fellowship more than once. The award honors the achievements of professional artists and supports their efforts to advance their careers.
Artists are selected based on outstanding talent, demonstrated ability and commitment to the creation of new works.
Grew, who creates figurative ceramic sculptures and works on paper, previously won the award in 2002. She was elected into the International Academy of Ceramics in 2007, and has exhibited her work at numerous U.S. museums, as well as throughout Europe and in China, Japan and Korea. She will present a solo exhibition this spring at the Töpfermuseum in Duingen in Germany.
Grew also has a solo exhibition opening April 9 at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, featuring porcelain figures and new drawn and sculptural works.
