Willamette University

The Willamette Fund

For the past few years, Willamette students have celebrated the university’s many donors during “Tuition Freedom Day,” which is a symbolic recognition of the fact that tuition only covers 70 percent of the actual cost of education at Willamette.

Clustered around tables in the University Center and Goudy Commons, students grab markers and throw elbows to carve out space to write down their reflections. The messages left on the cards speak to the crucial impact of giving
at Willamette.

With gifts to the Willamette Fund and the Parents Fund, alumni and parent donors support everything from scholarships to research programs to library resources. This support is vital to the university’s success because it defines so many students’ experiences at Willamette. As an underclassman put it, “I couldn’t have asked for a better college experience. I am so grateful that you have made it possible for me to come to Willamette!”

One student said it best: “Thank you for making my dreams come true. You have opened the door to the rest of my life. I hope I can do great things with this education to show you how much your generosity means to me.”

We’d like to take this chance to echo that sentiment. Thank you for giving and making such an impact.
