The Class of 2016 Textbook Scholarship is open to all members of the Class of 2016 from the College of Liberal Arts who will be enrolled full-time for the 2012-2013 academic year. The applicant should submit the attached form with supporting materials, including a two-page essay focusing on his/her significant contributions to the Willamette community and/or the greater Salem community.
Essays must focus on one or more of the following topics:
- Tutorials / Academic Assistance
- Volunteerism / Philanthropy
- Artistic Contributions
- Willamette's Motto
Applicants must also include a resume and an unofficial transcript or copy of their latest GPA report indicating their cumulative GPA. Please be aware that GPA is not the primary consideration; however, academic achievement is important for all applicants.
All applications must be received by April 20, at 5:00 p.m.
An application review committee will select one or more recipients, depending on the total funds raised, to receive the Class of 2016 Textbook Scholarship. A one-time stipend will be given to the recipient(s) in the form of an account in the student’s name at the Willamette University Bookstore at the beginning of the fall 2013 semester. This account can be used for the purchase of books and school supplies during the 2013-2014 academic year. The scholarship is not redeemable for cash, may not be transferred, and will expire May 31, 2014.
Expectations of the Recipient
Each recipient will be expected to continue giving back to the Willamette community by agreeing to support the Class of 2016 Textbook Scholarship while at Willamette and to help promote future class gift campaigns in promotional materials for fundraising.
