Atkinson Lectures
Acclaimed writer John Irving is one of many notable people who have graced Smith’s stage as part of the Atkinson Lecture Series. Other recent lecturers have included economist Paul Krugman and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration
Every year, Willamette hosts a weeklong celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. that includes a performance by a famous musical group or activist. Recent visitors have included the Blind Boys of Alabama (above), Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Angela Davis.
