Outlook 2010 for Windows
IMPORTANT: If you had setup Outlook 2010 for the old Willamette mail server, do not try to modify the existing setup. Remove the old Outlook setup first and then create a new account in Outlook 2010 as outlined below.
New Account Setup
- Start Outlook 2010.
- Click on the File tab.
- Click on Info.
- Click on Account Settings and then choose Account Settings again from the pop-up balloon.
- Click on the Email tab.
- Click on New...
- Click the button next to Manually configure server settings or additional server types.
- Click on Next.
- Click on the button next to Internet E-mail.
- Click on Next.
- Complete the form as follows:
- Your Name: {your full name}
- E-mail Address: {your complete Willamette email address}
- Account Type: IMAP
- Incoming mail server: imap.googlemail.com
- Outgoing mail server: smtp.googlemail.com
- Username: {your complete Willamette email address}
- Password: {your Willamette network password}
- Click on the More Settings... button
- Click on the Outgoing Server tab
- Check the box next to My outgoing server requires authentication.
- Check the button next to Use same settings as my incoming server.
- Click on the Advanced tab
- Complete the form as follows:
- Incoming server (IMAP): 993
- Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
- Outgoing server type (SMTP): 465
- Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
- Click to return to the previous screen.
- Click Next (Outlook will test your settings and send a test message)
- If there are errors, go back and check for typos.
- If successful, click Finish.
Setup Willamette Address Book (online Fusser's Guide)
- On the Account Settings screen, click on the Address Books tab.
- Click on New...
- Click on the button next to Internet Directory Service (LDAP).
- Click on Next.
- Server Name: ldap.willamette.edu
- Click on the More Settings button (Outlook may notify you about restarting before these changes will take effect)
- Click on the Search tab.
- Under Search Base, click on the button next to Custom.
- Custom: o=willamette.edu
- Click on Apply.
- Click on OK.
- Click on Next.
- Click on Finish.
