Data Projector
Teaching Station Computer
DVD/VCR

Data projector

• Turn on the data projector by pressing the ON button on the control panel on the top of the teaching station.
• Wait a few minutes for the projector to warm up.  An image will be displayed on the screen and the green indicator light will be on when it is ready..
• Press the input select button to switch sources to the appropriate one.  The appropriate label will light up when it is correctly selected.  The selection buttons will not work until the projector is warmed up and ready.
• To temporarily blank the projected image (but not the audio), press and hold the ON button on the control panel then press volume UP.  To return the display to normal, press and hold the ON button again and then press volume DOWN.
• When you are finished using the data projector, turn it off by pressing the OFF button on the control panel.

Teaching Station Computer

The Gateway workstation located in the teaching station is the resident computer.

• Turn on the data projector.  See above.
• Press the input select button marked COMPUTER.  The appropriate label will light up when it is correctly selected.  The selection buttons will not work until the projector is warmed up and ready.
• If it is not already running, turn on the Gateway computer by pressing the ON button located on face of the system.
• The keyboard and mouse are located in the tray above the cabinet in the teaching station.
• Please remember to log off the computer when you are finished.

NOTE: This system is configured to automatically detect an input from a laptop and override the resident Gateway computer when the laptop video cable is connected.

Laptop

• Turn on the data projector. See above.
• Press the input select button marked COMPUTER.  The appropriate label will light up when it is correctly selected.  The selection buttons will not work until the projector is warmed up and ready.
• Connect laptop to the SmartPanel with the provided video (VGA) cable.  If you cannot find the cable, contact the WITS main office in 101 Smullin (x6004). This system is configured to automatically detect input from a laptop and override the resident Gateway computer when the laptop video cable is connected.
• If audio from the laptop is also needed, the audio feed jack is located immediately below the video port on the control panel.  An audio cable is incorporated within the video cable with mini-stereo jacks at either end.  Use the headphone port on your laptop to provide audio to the data projector's speakers. Adjust audio levels in the room at the SmartPanel volume controls as appropriate.  You may also need to adjust the audio volume on your laptop.

DVD/VCR

• The DVD/VCR unit is mounted inside the teaching station.
• Turn on the data projector.  See above.
• Press the input select button marked DVD/VCR.  The appropriate label will light up when it is correctly selected.  The selection buttons will not work until the projector is warmed up and ready.
• Press the PLAY button on the DVD/VCR unit.  A remote control for the DVD/VCR has been provided. (See reverse)
• Adjust audio levels in the room at the SmartPanel volume controls as appropriate.
