Using your Google Apps for Willamette University Account on Mobile Devices

Email and Calendar - Overview

There are many different devices supported by Google Apps for Education And there are several different methods of accessing or syncing your content with Google.

Server Settings

With Apple iOS and most Android devices, the setup is automatic, except for entering your username and password. Depending on your device and the method you choose to use, you may need to manually enter the server settings. If your device does not detect the Google mail servers, you will need to enter the correct settings:

  • Incoming Mail Server: imap.googlemail.com
    • Port: 993
    • Security: SSL or TLS
    • username: your entire WU email address (e.g. asmith@willamette.edu)
  • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.googlemail.com
    • Port: 465
    • Security: SSL or TLS
    • username: your entire WU email address (e.g. asmith@willamette.edu)

iPhone - iPad (iOS devices)

Android devices

Blackberry, Windows Mobile, other mobile systems

  • Blackberry - instructions and help for getting Google Apps on your Blackberry devices (*note Willamette does not have the Google Apps Connector for BlackBerry®).
  • Windows Phone - instructions and help for getting your mail, calendars, and contacts onto your Windows Mobile device.
  • Other devices - Google suggests you use the browser on your phone to visit m.google.com to see a list of what is available for your device.

Other email programs

Supported email clients - Google has a list of supported email clients and their setup instructions. REMINDER: the 'automatic configuration' of newer mail clients will not work for your Willamette.edu email address.
