Add Your Willamette Gmail Account to Your Android

New Account Setup

Unless you are doing this setup for the first time on a new device, you have a personal Gmail account already setup. After this, you will also have a Willamette Google Apps for Education account.

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Open Accounts & sync (some Androids call this Accounts)
  • Tap Add account.
  • Tap Google.
  • Tap Next.
  • Tap the Sign-in button.
  • Username: {your complete Willamette email address}
  • Password: {your Willamette network password}
  • You'll be connected to your Google Apps for Education account.
  • Select the items you want to synchronize (Contacts, Gmail, and Calendar are typical; some other Google Apps may be available). If the arrow is dim, tap it to activate sync (the arrow will turn green).
  • Tap Finish.
  • Open the Gmail app on your phone (make sure you are using the Gmail app and not the one called Email). You should be seeing your new Willamette email messages.

All of your Google calendar and contacts data will now sync to your phone if you activate the sync options. You can control what synchronizes in the Accounts & sync item in the Settings app. The Google calendar app on your Android has another way to control the sync and choose whether or not a calendar is visible on the phone: Open your calendar, tap the Menu button, tap More, and then choose Calendars to view the options and modify them.
