Adding the
503 Area Code for 10-Digit Dialing
Windows
95/98
- From
the desktop, open My Computer, then open Dial-Up
Networking.
- Right-click
on your connection icon, then select Properties.
- On
the General tab, select the Use area code and dialing properties
checkbox.
Macintosh
System 8.0 and later (using Remote Access)
- From
the Apple menu, select Control Panels, then select
Remote Access.
- Add
the area code in the Number: box
- Click
on Options.
- If
you are using an alternate number, add the area code to the
Alternate number: box.
- Click
OK.
- Click
Connect.
Macintosh
System 7.5.3 (using FreePPP 2.6.2)
- From
the Finder menu, select the Telephone icon,
then select Open FreePPP Setup.
- If
necessary, expand the dialog box, then click on the Accounts
tab.
- Select
your current prefences from the list, then click on Edit.
- Click
on the Dialup tab, add the area code to the phone number
for the Main Numbers.
- Check
the Dial area code checkbox.
- Repeat
steps 4 and 5 for each Alternate Number that you want
to use.
- Click
OK.
Macintosh
System 7.5.1 and earlier (using MacPPP 2.2.0a)
- From
the Apple menu, select Control Panels, then select
Config PPP.
- Click
on Config.
- Add
the area code to the phone number.
- Close
the Config PPP control panel and restart.
Windows
3.1 (Trumpet PPP)
- If
you've been typing the phone number in each time, start using
the 10-digit phone number.
If
Trumpet remembers the old phone number, you may be able to
fix the script:
- Double-click
on the Trumpet icon in the Willamette Network
window.
- From
the Dialler menu, select Edit Scripts.
- Select
login.cmd then click on OK.
- Find
the part in the script about the phone number and change it
so that you can re-enter the phone number.
- If
this doesn't work, try uninstalling Trumpet, then reinstall
it.
Windows
3.1 (Terminal)
- Double-click
on the Terminal icon in the Accessories window.
- From
the File menu, select Open, then locate your
saved terminal settings file (filename.trm).
- From
the Settings menu, select Phone Number.
- Add
the area code to the phone number.
- From
the File menu, select Save.
