• Use one of these numbers as your primary number and the other as your alternate number:
  • (503) 370-6627
  • (503) 370-6628

  Either of these numbers will provide the fastest dialup service available at Willamette

Adding the 503 Area Code for 10-Digit Dialing

Windows 95/98

1. From the desktop, open My Computer, then open Dial-Up Networking.
2. Right-click on your connection icon, then select Properties.
3. On the General tab, select the Use area code and dialing properties checkbox.

Macintosh System 8.0 and later (using Remote Access)

1. From the Apple menu, select Control Panels, then select Remote Access.
2. Add the area code in the Number: box
3. Click on Options.
4. If you are using an alternate number, add the area code to the Alternate number: box.
5. Click OK.
6. Click Connect.

Macintosh System 7.5.3 (using FreePPP 2.6.2)

1. From the Finder menu, select the Telephone icon, then select Open FreePPP Setup.
2. If necessary, expand the dialog box, then click on the Accounts tab.
3. Select your current prefences from the list, then click on Edit.
4. Click on the Dialup tab, add the area code to the phone number for the Main Numbers.
5. Check the Dial area code checkbox.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each Alternate Number that you want to use.
7. Click OK.

Macintosh System 7.5.1 and earlier (using MacPPP 2.2.0a)

1. From the Apple menu, select Control Panels, then select Config PPP.
2. Click on Config.
3. Add the area code to the phone number.
4. Close the Config PPP control panel and restart.

Windows 3.1 (Trumpet PPP)

1. If you've been typing the phone number in each time, start using the 10-digit phone number.

If Trumpet remembers the old phone number, you may be able to fix the script:

1. Double-click on the Trumpet icon in the Willamette Network window.
2. From  the Dialler menu, select Edit Scripts.
3. Select login.cmd then click on OK.
4. Find the part in the script about the phone number and change it so that you can re-enter the phone number.
5. If this doesn't work, try uninstalling Trumpet, then reinstall it.

Windows 3.1 (Terminal)

1. Double-click on the Terminal icon in the Accessories window.
2. From the File menu, select Open, then locate your saved terminal settings file (filename.trm).
3. From the Settings menu, select Phone Number.
4. Add the area code to the phone number.
5. From the File menu, select Save.
