Willamette Instructional Support Environment (WISE)
Introduction
WISE is a web-based application that is built on the open-source Sakai Collaborative Learning Environment. It features a set of software tools designed to help instructors, researchers, students, administrators and staff collaborate online in support of their work. How you use WISE depends entirely on what you want to accomplish. You can limit your use to basic course functions like posting documents and making announcements or you can add tools such as the wiki and blogs to create a rich collaborative environment.
Getting to WISE and Logging In
Launch a web browser and enter http://wise.willamette.edu in the address bar. Use your Willamette user name (the part before '@willamette.edu' in your Willamette email address) and password to log on. WISE tools work seamlessly with most popular browsers; consider using those browsers for the most reliable experience.
This is the WISE front page. Watch for important announcements about maintenance downtime and other topics. To log in to WISE, click on the Login button at the top right of the banner.
Navigating Through WISE
When you log in to WISE, you will land in your "My Workspace" site. This site is a private area for each user. Tabs across the top of the page provide links to sites that you belong to:
Within each site, a vertical Tools menu on the left side of the screen allows you to access the tools that are active in that site:
