Willamette Instructional Support Environment (WISE)

WISE is a web-based application that is built on the open-source Sakai Collaborative Learning Environment.  It features a set of software tools designed to help instructors, researchers, students, administrators and staff collaborate online in support of their work.

WISE can be found at http://wise.willamette.edu. Use your regular Willamette user name (the part before '@willamette.edu') and password to log on. WISE tools work seamlessly with most popular browsers.  Sakai is regularly tested with Internet Explorer (Windows) and Firefox (Windows and Mac OSX); consider using those browsers for the most reliable experience.

Issues:

  • Safari and Chrome: intermittent problems uploading documents
  • Mobile browsers for phones and tablets (with the exception of Safari in iOS5): do not support creating and editing content in the WYSIWYG rich-text editor
  • Internet Explorer 8: some pages may not display correctly; may be fixed by turning on Compatibility View (Tools>Compatibility View)
  • Unexpected results when using 2 browser windows or tabs to access the same tool at the same time; can be fixed by using two different browsers to view the same WISE page.
Intro to WISE and Using WISE Tools Workshops:
  • No WISE workshops are scheduled at this time.

All workshops will be held in the WITS Training Room, Smullin 6.  Email wise-admin@willamette.edu to reserve a place or to request a workshop at a different time or on a different WISE topic.
