The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Public Law 93-380, effective November 19, 1974, is intended to ensure a student's right to inspect and review his/her educational records maintained by an educational institution or agency, or by an individua l acting for such an institution or agency.

Willamette University institutional policy is consistent with the intent, guarantees and safeguards embodied in the legislation. Departmental policies may vary procedurally but are to be in alignment with institutional guidelines.
