Career Development
Willamette University College of Law maintains an active office of Career Services, which provides comprehensive career counseling to our students and alumni. The role of Career Services is to teach the skills and provide the tools needed for a lifetime of successful career management. Career Services works one on one with students and graduates to identify their unique attributes and marketable skills and to develop a long-term strategy for achieving their career goals.
Career Services provides extensive opportunities for professional skills development, which are available to students and alumni alike throughout the academic year. The Career Services staff meets regularly with students, beginning in their first year of law school. In addition, they maintain a comprehensive resource library and robust Web site that provide relevant employment and career development information. Numerous workshops, panels and speakers round out the department’s career development offerings.
Career Services also oversees a busy on-campus interview program, bringing legal employers directly to the College of Law. In addition, mock interviews with volunteer attorneys and department staff are scheduled each semester to help students hone their interview skills.
