The Placement Office is dedicated to creating employment opportunities and providing education to foster long term career and professional development for students and alumni.
About Our Placement Office
Willamette University College of Law maintains an active Placement Office, which provides comprehensive career counseling to our students and alumni. The role of the Placement Office is to teach the skills and provide the tools needed for a lifetime of successful career management. The Placement Office works one on one with students and graduates to identify their unique attributes and marketable skills and to develop a long-term strategy for achieving their career goals. To set an appointment with a staff member in the Placement Office, please do so on Symplicity.
The Placement Office provides extensive opportunities for professional skills development, which are available to students and alumni alike throughout the academic year. The Placement Office staff meets regularly with students, beginning in their first year of law school. In addition, they maintain a comprehensive resource library and robust Web site that provide relevant employment and career development information. Numerous workshops, panels and speakers round out the office's career development offerings.
The Placement Office also oversees a busy on-campus interview program, bringing legal employers directly to the College of Law. In addition, mock interviews with volunteer attorneys and department staff are scheduled each semester to help students hone their interview skills.
Professional Development and Diversity
The school’s office of Professional Development and Diversity is responsible for multicultural planning, programming and student affairs in the College of Law, which has long been committed to building a community that recognizes and celebrates diversity.
The director of Professional Development and Diversity, working in conjunction with the Placement Office and the Externship Program, helps ensure all law students receive the professional mentoring, job counseling and social networking needed to succeed both in law school and in the broader legal community following graduation. In addition, the Multicultural Law Students Association sponsors relevant speakers, seminars and special cultural events to promote diversity at the College of Law.
