Attorney-Mentor Program

Willamette’s College of Law has the oldest practitioner-student program in Oregon. Our Attorney-Mentor Program matches first-year students with attorneys and judges. The program is designed to promote the professional development of students through an informal exchange of ideas and experiences. Attorney-mentor may offer their mentees career advice and encouragement during the first year of law school as well as including them in various work-related activities and local networking events in the legal community. Mentors can help their mentees make the transition from law student to professional.

The mentor relationship serves as the first building block in a rich network of connections students will make throughout their legal careers.  Our goal is for Willamette students to be prepared, not only for the intellectual rigors of practicing law but also for the continued growth and development required of a professional.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the online form below or email law-career@willamette.edu. We encourage all attorneys and judges to join our program.

Geographic Alumni Attorney-Mentor Program

Students and recent graduates can meet individually with career advisors in the Office of Career Planning & Development to strategize about the best way to begin their out-of-state job search and connect with geographic mentors.

The goal of the geographic mentor program is to help students and recent graduates understand the local legal community and to begin building their professional connections within that geographic area.

As an alumnus, we encourage you to volunteer as a geographic mentor. Please email law-career@willamette.edu if you are interested.
