Simulation-Based Courses

It can be difficult to learn negotiation skills or trial lawyering just by reading texts and taking tests. To be a great advocate who effectively resolves disputes, students also need to practice. But practicing new skills when a client's problem is on the line can be risky. Because Willamette's College of Law cares about building great lawyers, we teach a number of courses organized around simulation-based learning.

Simulation-based courses are centered on simulated disputes and transactions. Students focus on building their lawyering skills and integrating doctrine and theory into practical applications. These courses provide a safe laboratory where students can experiment and practice - without the pressure or risk that comes with having a real client. Simulation-based courses are taught by full-time College of Law faculty, as well as top-tier practitioners who provide a valuable "real world" perspective.
