There are published opinions for Federal courts and state appellate courts as well as specialized subject reporting.  (E.g., Uniform Commercial Code Reporting Service).  Subject access is through a corresponding digest.  Federal District Court opinions are found in Federal Supplement, and online.  Federal Courts of Appeal decisions in Federal; U.S. Supreme Court reports in Supreme Court Reporter (S.Ct.), U.S. Reports (U.S.) and Lawyers Edition (L.Ed.).

Many states (but not Oregon) have ceased publishing their own official reports.  They have designated the West Publishing Co. as the official reporter.  E.g., Maine after 1965 is cited as Me.,_A.2d_ (19__).  However, West does publish the unofficial Oregon Cases.

Bound volumes of published decisions are preceded by "advance sheets" (pamphlets of decisions) which in turn are often preceded by "slip opinions” (immediate publication of a single opinion).

All appellate court decisions may be found online.
