Willamette Law Students Launch Sports Law Journal
Two third-year law students, Robert Zarkos JD'04 and Justin Reiner JD'04, have launched the Northwest's first journal devoted exclusively to sports law. Entitled The Willamette Sports Law Journal, the on-line publication will focus on contemporary issues facing the sports law world. Zarkos will serve as editor-in-chief and Reiner will serve as articles editor. Willamette Law faculty and sports law expert, Dean Richardson, is faculty advisor.
Reiner said that the quarterly journal is a byproduct of the Willamette Sports Law Society, which was formed by the students this year. The first issue contains student-written pieces such as "Title IX: Straining Toward an Elusive Goal;" "The House that Joe Taxpayer Built: Preserving the Role of Baseball Stadiums Without Providing Distorted Public Subsidies;" and "The Liability for Design of Golf Courses." Future issues will contain pieces written by students, faculty and industry practitioners. The journal currently has a subscription base of more than 200.
The Willamette Sports Law Journal will be available online at the Willamette College of Law's homepage. Click on related links Willamette Sports Law Journal.
