Valerie Vollmar to Receive Second Oregon State Bar Service Award
The Oregon State Bar recently named College of Law Professor Valerie J. Vollmar a recipient of the 2005 OSB President's Membership Service Award. A two-time recipient, Vollmar first received the President's Membership Service Award in 1989. The award honors attorneys for outstanding contributions made to the legal profession through a variety of OSB programs, publications, committees and sections, or activities performed through local bar associations.
Vollmar, who joined the Willamette faculty in 1985 after a career in private practice, graduated summa cum laude from the College of Law in 1975. She currently teaches Trusts & Estates and Property.
Vollmar was founding chair of the Oregon State Bar's Elder Law Section and is former chair of the OSB's Estate Planning and Administration section. In addition, she served on the executive committees of both the Taxation and Business Law sections. Most recently, she served as co-chair of a committee whose work led to adoption of the Oregon Uniform Trust Code in 2005.
The OSB's Annual Awards Dinner will be held Thursday, December 1, 2005, at The Benson Hotel in Portland. Additional information about the event and the President's Membership Award can be found on the OSB Web site.
