College of Law to graduate 131 students
The College of Law will award 130 JDs and one LLM at the school’s 125th commencement and hooding ceremony to be held Sunday, May 15. The event will honor the Class of 2011, which includes students who graduated last December.
The law school’s commencement speaker will be Judge Milan D. Smith, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Smith, who has served on the bench since 2006, grew up in Pendleton and is a member of the Udall-Lee political family. His brother and three cousins have been or currently are U.S. senators. Smith is a graduate of Brigham Young University and the University of Chicago Law School. He served as vice chair of the California Fair Employment and Housing Commission and was a managing partner of Smith, Crane, Robinson and Parker, LLP.
Commencement will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the University quad. A reception at the College of Law will immediately follow the ceremony.
