Willamette Civil Liberties Union
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) works through courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve individual rights and liberties guaranteed under the United States Constitution, including First Amendment rights, equal protection under the law, due process and privacy. The ACLU also works to extend rights to people of color; women; lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people; prisoners; and people with disabilities - segments of the population that have traditionally been denied their rights. The purpose of the Willamette Civil Liberties Union (WCLU) is to promote the cause of civil liberties on the Willamette University campus and in the local community.
