Biography Elizabeth A. Graddy, Ph.D., is Associate Professor in the University of Southern California's School of Public Administration, and Director of the School's Program in Public Policy. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Memphis and a Ph.D. in Public Policy Analysis from Carnegie Mellon University. At U.S.C., Dr. Graddy teaches courses in quantitative analysis, business and government, and public policy analysis at the graduate and undergraduate levels. She is a former Vice Dean of the School of Public Administration. Dr. Graddy's research interests include how industry and organizational structure affect performance, with particular emphasis on the role of ownership (for-profit, nonprofit and public) on organizational performance, and how laws and regulations affect the behavior and performance of the private sector. These interests have led to research on occupational regulation and state licensing board performance, the contracting decisions of local governments, the performance of nonprofit organizations, the determinants of products liability outcomes, and hospital industry structure and performance. Her articles have appeared in numerous journals including the Rand Journal of Economics, Journal of Health Politics, Policy & Law, Economic Inquiry, Journal of Law, Economics, & Organization, Law & Society Review, and Public Administration Review. |
