I was born in Pennsylvania, and grew up in Annville, PA. I graduated from Annville High School (1950), Swarthmore College with Honors (1954), and University of Wisconsin, Madison M.S. 1957, Ph.D. 1961.

I taught mathematics and computer science at the University of Oregon from 1961 to 1982. I also directed the Computing Center at the University of Oregon from 1969 to 1975.

I taught computer science at Willamette University from 1982 to 1997, and again part-time in the academic year 1999-2000.

I authored two textbooks:

           Assembler Language Programming: the IBM System 360/370, published by Addison-Wesley; American editions 1969, 1975, 1984; foreign editions in Polish, Japanese, and a pirated Taiwan edition

           Business Information Processing with BASIC, published by Addison-Wesley, 1980
