Title: The Impact of a Reduced Winter Recreation Season in Oregon: Mount Bachelor Ski Resort, Oregon

Author: Albert Wright

Abstract: Ski Resorts provide a large economic positive to any community by drawing tourism and money to an area. After the establishment of a successful ski area it becomes a economic engine by raising GDP, population, and economic density (Booth,1999). Due to the rising data on climate change, the future of ski resorts are in doubt. By exemplifying the solutions to climate change, the ski industry is becoming a positive player within the climate change debate.  By analyzing the practices of Mount Bachelor, Oregon I will see if their response to climate change is different from the rest of the industry and if Mount Bachelor is an economic positive to its region.
