Math 130 - Contemporary Mathematics - Fall '09
An old final exam - you'll want to read this first.
Below is a link to a copy of my Fall 1999 final exam. As you might imagine, some things have changed since then.
Here are things on the F'99 exam we didn't cover in F'09:
- Chapter 7, which pertains to exam problem #7
- Geometric growth (not exactly in the text anymore), which pertains to exam problem #9, although we did cover how to answer 9b
- Chapters 11,12 (symmetry and fractals), which pertain to exam problems #11,12,13
- Introductory probability and combinatorics, which pertain to exam problems 14,15
Here are things not on the F'99 exam that we did cover in F'09:
- Note that there are many things covered in both F'99 and
F'09 that didn't show up on the final that term. Don't assume
they won't show up this term, e.g. Lone Divider or Shapley-Shubik or
The Alabama Paradox.
- Chapter 8, which covers scheduling
- parts of chapter 9: Fibonacci numbers
- Cardinality
- parts of chapter 10: deferred annuities (savings plans) and installment loans
OK, now that you've read the fine print, here's the old final (in .pdf form; you can get the adobe reader download here if you need to.)
