About
Atkinson Labs is an outreach program of the Atkinson Graduate School of
Management. We have a diverse body of MBA students who
want to apply their classroom learning to real-world projects. We reach
out to companies looking for help in two areas: innovation and data
mining.
- Innovation. Some of our
students take an elective course in Design Thinking
where they learn a process for solving difficult problems, particularly
those that can be solved with new products and services.
They can act autonomously or mix with your team to familarize you with
design thinking and be fresh minds and sets of eyes looking at your
problems; and,
- Data mining. We also offer an
elective course in data mining, a process and set of techniques for
finding subtle
patterns in large datasets. During the course students become familiar
with IBM SPSS Modeler, one of the most powerful data mining tools. They
can work autonomously on your anonymized data (confidential information
removed), or help your team learn
the fundamentals of data mining and the operation of Modeler as they
work with your data.
Whichever option you choose the students are coached by an
experienced faculty member, and any work is treated as confidential.
There is no charge for the service, but donations are appreciated.
