              Text:   CALCULUS from Graphical, Numerical, and Symbolic Points of View –  

                         Single Variable   by Ostebee & Zorn – 2nd edition

 

                                 This text is available in two versions.  The one subtitled “Single

              `                  Variable” contains all the material for both Math 141 and Math 142. 

                                 The other version is subtitled “Volume 1” and while cheaper,

                                 contains only the material for Math 141.

 

              Coverage:   Chapters 5-11 plus sections 7.1 & 7.2

             

 

              Grading:       Quizzes                        4 @ 30 points             120 points             

                                 Mid-Term Exams         3  @ 50 points            150 points             

                                 Final Exam:                   1 @ 100 points           100 points

 

                                                                     Total Possible             370 points

 

         While grade cutoffs are not rigidly determined ahead of time, a point total of

 

                        333 or better ensures no worse than an A- 

                                 296 ensures no worse than a B- 

                                           259 ensures no worse than a C-

                                                     222 ensures no worse than a D

        

                                 However, the cutoffs may be lower. 

             

                                 The Final will be used as a tiebreaker.
