Content: Chapters 1 - 22, 24 - 27, and 29 - 33
Course Outline: Chapters 1 - 8 will be presented by the professor.
Chapters 9-22, 23-27, and 29-30 will be presented by the students
Chapters 31-33 will be presented by the professor.
Student Presentations: There will be five sets of four chapters each
Set 1 - Chapters 9 - 12
Set 2 - Chapters 13 - 16
Set 3 - Chapters 17 - 20
Set 4 - Chapters 21, 22, 24, & 25
Set 5 - Chapters 26, 27, 29, & 30
For each set the class will be divided randomly into four groups of three.
Each group will be responsible for:
1. the presentation of the material of one of the chapters
2. the assignment of practice (for FUN) homework problems from the text and
the class discussions which results from them
3. the assignment of hand-in (for PROFIT) homework problems from the text
4. the initial grading of those hand-in homework problems.
Course Grading: Will be based on:
5 Presentations @ 20 points each = 100
25* hand-in hmwks @ 5 points each = 125
3 Mid-term exams @ 50 point each = 150
1 Final exam @ 100 points = 100
Total = 475
* this number is approximate (from range of 21 - 29)
