Bio |
Sammy Basu received his B.A. honors,
with a major in Political Science and minor in Economics in 1986 and his M.A.
in Political Science in 1988, both from the University of Calgary, Alberta,
Canada. He received a second M.A in Politics in 1990 and his Ph.D. in
Politics in 1993, both from Princeton University, New Jersey, USA. From 1990
until the present he has been a member of the Politics Department at
Willamette University where he is currently an Associate Professor. |

teaching interests
and current course offerings encompass historical and thematic approaches to
the study of Western political philosophy from the ancients to the moderns,
as well as ethics and public policy. |

research interests
include the period of Early Modern English political thought, concentrating
upon the Levellers and Richard Overton in particular, as well as various
general philosophical topics including property, self-ownership, death, and
humor. |

roles have included general education design and implementation, long-range

Department of Politics. |
