Politics 303(AR): Topics in Political Theory: Death in America Prof. Sammy Basu This ethics and public policy course focuses on death in modern America. More specifically, it examines four cases in terms of their relevance to mortality:

We will consider the use and criticism of particular modes of 'Arguments, Reasons, and Values' in the effort to reflect meaningfully upon each case. Readings will be supplemented by online ‘digital field-work.’ In addition, students will have the opportunity to complete an independent project: a 'service-learning' experience, or a shadow and reflection paper, or a research paper relating to mortality themes and issues.	1.Death Penalty	2.
