Moray Eel
The picture above is a Fatou pattern given by the dynamical system
zn+1 = fp(zn)
with fp(z) = pz(1 - z)(1 + z)
and the initial value z0 = 0.1. It is taken from a rectangular neighborhood of (1.176, 0.347). The moray is painted by the convergence scheme and the blue background by the divergence scheme. The picture below shows a drastic effect from changing the initial value to z0 = 0.5. Note that neither of the initial values is a mathematically desirable critical point of fp. You should try a real critical point to see an interesting result.
