General computer questions

"Go To" means go to the top of your screen and look at a menu

•Turn on the computer? Press the triangle at the top right of the keyboard
•Shut off the computer? •Go to "Special" and "Shut Down" OR
•Press the triangle at the top right of the keyboard and "shut down"
•Fix it after it froze? Try these in order until it works again:
1. See if your mouse cable is plugged in tightly
2. Press apple-Q
3. Press apple-option-control and then the esc key (top left of keyboard)
4. Press apple-control and then the triangle key (top right of keyboard)

5. Unplug it and then plug it back in again

•Change the volume? •Press the buttons on the computer OR
•Turn the knob on the monitor (bring down the flap first)
•Go to the Apple Menu (top left) and "Control Panels". Go to "Monitors and Sound" and adjust the volume.
•Save a file? •If you are in the application: Go to "File: Save As". Click on "Desktop". Click on your disk and "Open". Click "Save"
•If you are on the desktop: Just drag your file on to your disk until it turns black and let go.
•Delete a file? Drag it to the trashcan. Go to "Special" and "Empty Trash"
•Close an application? •Go to "File: Quit" OR
•Press apple-Q
•Close a window? Click the box at the top left of the window.
•Get my disk/CD out? Drag it to the trash
•Cut or Copy and Paste something into another application? Drag your mouse across the text/object. Go To "Edit: Cut" (or copy). Go to the Finder (top right) and switch to the other program. Click the mouse at the spot you want to put it. Go to "Edit: Paste".
