Rigsby has been a leader of numerous strategic initiatives and projects, including the creation of the Kaneko Commons, developing the Virtual Career Center and serving on the Trustee Working Group on Athletics.

In the local community, he is a former board member of the Salem Art Association and has served as the chair of the Clay Ball twice.
