Bearcats Row in NCRC Championship Regatta at Dexter Lake
EUGENE, ORE. -- Willamette University participated in the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference (NCRC) Championship Regatta on Saturday, May 3 at Dexter Lake. The Bearcats competed in the women's varsity 4+ and the women's novice 4+.
The Bearcats placed fifth in the women's varsity 4+. Humboldt State University (Calif.) took first place in 8:52.03. University of Puget Sound was second at 9:20.79, while Lewis & Clark College finished third at 9:33.34.
Pacific Lutheran University was fourth at 9:52.43, about 6.5 seconds in front of the Bearcats, who completed the race in 9:58.98. Seattle Pacific University was nearly 10 seconds behind Willamette and placed sixth in 10:08.46.
Willamette's crew in the WV4+ featured coxswain Rachel Robinson (Jr., Bellevue, WA/Bellevue HS) along with Katy Wallner (Jr., Petaluma, CA/Petaluma HS) at stroke, Hannah Puckett (Fr., Davis, CA/Davis HS) at 3-seat, Molly Pritchard (Fr., Medford, OR/South Medford HS) at 2-seat and Sarah Fish (So., Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) at bow.
In the women's novice 4+, WU finished sixth. Puget Sound won the race with a time of 8:17.35. Seattle Pacific was a close second at 8:21.43. Humboldt State placed third at 8:31.85, with Pacific Lutheran in fourth at 8:39.63, Lewis & Clark in fifth at 9:02.31 and Willamette at 9:52.86.
Sidney Gallardo (Fr., Oaxaca de Juarez, Mexico/Oaxaca Christian School) was the coxswain of the Willamette WN4+. She worked with stroke Bea McAlister (So., Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor HS), 3-seat Emily Rolin (Fr., Richmond, RI/Chariho HS), 2-seat Lily Dunbar (Fr., Oakland, CA/Oakland Technical HS) and bow Jenny Duren (Fr., Redmond, WA/Inglemoor HS).
Humboldt State won the NCRC women's team title with a total of 77 points. Puget Sound took second place with 73 points.
The NCRC Championship Regatta concluded the Bearcats' 2013-14 season.
