Willamette University hosts summer art workshop for adults

Willamette University is hosting a new summer art workshop for adults, Art by the Park, July 15–17.

The workshop, which is held on the Willamette campus and includes overnight accommodations, consists of a selection of art classes taught by Willamette faculty and artists from the community. The program ends as the Salem Art Association’s Salem Art Fair & Festival begins in nearby Bush’s Pasture Park.

Participants can take classes in beginning color theory, beginning watercolor, chiaroscuro, encaustics, sketchbook art, photography, portrait drawing, sumi-e painting and perspective drawing. Participants also will be able to visit the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, tour the university’s gardens and explore downtown Salem.

Tuition includes four workshop sessions, two nights lodging and meals catered by Bon Appétit; a non-residential option is available at a lesser cost. The registration deadline is June 30.

For tuition and registration information, contact Leslie Whitaker or (503) 375-5442, or visit www.willamette.edu/dept/scheduling/programs/artbythepark.
