Annual pow wow features dancing, songs

Willamette University's Eighth Annual Social Pow Wow on March 13 celebrated the traditions, history and culture of Native peoples with food, dancing and songs.

The Native American Enlightenment Association, Willamette's Office of Multicultural Affairs and Associated Students of Willamette University co-sponsor this popular event.

As master of ceremonies, Willamette alumnus Bob Tom explained the traditional dances, songs and culture of a pow wow. The event also featured Dancing Spirit as the host drum and a women's traditional dance contest that challenged participants' skill and stamina.
