Willamette professor earns fellowship for book project

Willamette University professor Lynn Makau has earned an American Fellowship from the American Association of University Women, which will help her complete a book manuscript.

Makau, who teaches in the English, American ethnic studies, and women's and gender studies departments, is working on a book titled "Peculiar Intimacies," which considers the contemporary resonance of historical fiction set in the antebellum period.

She will work on the project this fall, for completion in spring 2011. Makau is in her first year of teaching at Willamette.
