The Grace Goudy Distinguished Artists Series presents The Cleveland Duo & James Umble

Willamette University’s Grace Goudy Distinguished Artists Series presents The Cleveland Duo & James Umble on Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Mary Stuart Rogers Music Center.

General admission tickets are $22 for adults, $5 for students with ID. Tickets are available online through or through Travel Salem at (503) 581-4325.

The program comprises original repertoire, commissioned works by nationally acclaimed composers and traditional music transcribed specifically for the trio.

The Cleveland Duo includes Stephen Warner on violin and Carolyn Gadiel Warner on piano and violin. Joined by internationally-acclaimed saxophonist James Umble, the Grammy Award-nominated classical chamber music ensemble is known for its unusual instrumental combinations. The trio has toured throughout North America and has been played by National Public Radio and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

The artists will present a master class for university students on Sept. 20 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Rogers Music Center, and the public is welcome to attend.

“This year's Goudy Distinguished Artists Series is the most ambitious to date, presenting a season of diverse classical music experiences,” said series director and professor Anita King. “The series will continue with the Spanish Brass Quintet followed by famed Brazilian pianist Arnaldo Cohen. It concludes with world-renowned soprano Dame Emma Kirkby with Marcia Hadjikmarkos on the forte piano.”
