Call for Blankets: Your Blanket is Invited to Become Part of a Marie Watt Sculpture

Supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Hallie Ford Museum of Art at Willamette University and artist Marie Watt invite you to donate a blanket and share its blanket story. Marie Watt, a 1990 Willamette graduate, will be creating a sculpture for the permanent collection that will be based, in part, on these donated blankets that will be collected now through June 29.

Drop off points
  • The Hallie Ford Museum of Art (Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m-4 p.m.)
  • The 11th Annual Social Pow wow on March 9 at the Sparks Center at Willamette University (between 4 - 10 p.m). Blankets can be dropped off with Prof. Rebecca Dobkins or Leslie Whitaker at the Indian Country Conversations information table.
  • Also, watch for announcements of "blanket parties" where people will be invited to come together to donate blankets and share stories!
Tags will be available at the drop off points and you are invited to share your personal blanket story on the tag. In exchange for donating blankets, participants will receive a small silkscreen print by the artist.
