Free admission to active military personnel and their families

by Marketing & Communications,

May 26 - September 6

The Hallie Ford Museum of Art at Willamette University will offer free admission to all active military personnel and their families throughout the summer as part of the Blue Star Museums Program.

“Our participation in the Blue Star Museums Program provides a great opportunity to recognize and thank our military families for all they are doing for our country,” said Director John Olbrantz. “We also hope that it will provide the impetus for military personnel and their families to become life-long museum goers.”

This program is held in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and more than 2000 museums throughout the United States. The National Endowment for the Arts is an independent agency of the federal government that supports artistic excellence, creativity and innovation for the benefit of individuals and communities. Blue Star Families is a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit network of military families from all ranks and services, including guard and reserve, with a mission to support, connect and empower military families.

The free admission program is available for any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), a DD Form 1173 ID card, or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card, which includes active duty military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard), National Guard and Reserve members and up to five immediate family members. A complete list of the over 2000 participating museums can be found at www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums.
