Willamette students at commencement

The Willamette Savings Match is an innovative program for undergraduates that gives Oregon residents a chance to double their college savings.

Beginning in 2020, Willamette will provide one-to-one matching funds of up to $5,000 per semester (up to eight semesters) to eligible students with Oregon College Savings Plan accounts. The maximum total match is $40,000.

Eligibility Criteria

A student will qualify for the college savings match when they’re admitted to Willamette University as a first-year undergraduate and meet all of the following criteria:

  • The student must have graduated from a public or private Oregon high school or home school.
  • The student must be the beneficiary of an active Oregon College Savings Plan account for at least four years prior to enrollment.
  • The student must indicate eligibility for the matching scholarship during the application process and before they’re admitted.
  • The student must provide their most current Oregon College Savings Plan account statement for purposes of calculating the scholarship amount.

Note: The Willamette Savings Match isn’t available to undergraduates who were enrolled prior to 2020. In addition, undergraduate transfer students, graduate students at the university’s College of Law and Atkinson Graduate School of Management, tuition remission students or tuition exchange students aren’t eligible for the program.
